ABOUT ILOCOS SUR COOPERATIVE MEDICAL MISSION GROUP AND HOSPITAL
The ILOCOS SUR COOPERATIVE MEDICAL MISSION GROUP AND HOSPITAL was organized by kind hearted medical doctors, some members from the academe of University of Northern Philippines, businessmen and lay people particularly the Legion of Mary and a priest from Divine Word College of Vigan. The concept came about because of the different scenario like a patient cannot pay for his consultation fees, can not undergo laboratory and radiological examinations, cannot buy prescribed medicines because of high cost and cannot afford hospitalization because of the deficiencies of the government hospitals and because of the profit oriented private hospitals. TheISCMMGH wants to answer and solve these situations and to provide quality, accessible, sustainable and affordable health services to the members of the cooperative and ultimately to the general population. It seeks to extend these kind of health services to small storeowners, housemaids, fishermen, farmers, teachers, and other poorer segments of the population and those in the far-flung areas reached by medical missions with difficulty. This is a mass based health cooperative in contrast to other health cooperative in the country.
